Madeleine McCann: Photos flood in |

One thousand photographs have been uploaded to a website set up in a bid to
identify the abductor of missing Madeleine McCann.
Holidaymakers who were at the Ocean Club Resort, at Praia da
Luz, Portugal in the two weeks prior to Madeleine's disappearance have been
asked to submit images.
Computer experts are using the latest face recognition technology to identify
if any known paedophiles or criminals are in the background.
Police also hope to be able to identify anyone acting suspiciously, for example
by being captured on camera at the same location on several occasions.
British police agencies behind the website said 173 people have uploaded
photographs since the website was launched on May 21.
Meanwhile, more than 1,500 people have also phoned a police hotline in response
to appeals for information.
The information has then been assessed, prioritised and passed on to the
Portuguese investigation team.
UK
police are urging anyone who has information or photographs that may be of
interest to the investigation to get in touch.
They are interested in photographs taken at the resort that include strangers,
not panoramic shots of scenery or family groups. |
