Madeleine's
parents need 'reflection' after hectic tour |

LISBON (AFP) - The parents of missing British toddler Madeleine McCann said
Tuesday they needed time for "reflection" after a hectic European
tour to appeal for information about her whereabouts.
Gerry and Kate McCann made their comments on their website after they returned
from a brief visit to Morocco
to the southern Portuguese resort town of Praia
da Luz, where Madeleine disappeared on May 3.
"There will be a period of reflection before we decide on what is the best
role for Kate and I," the girl's father wrote on
the site.
"The campaign and the search for Madeleine will continue and with
everyone's help we will find her. So please stay with us."
The couple visited Morocco
at the end of a trip across Europe to drum up
support for the search. They met the Pope Benedict XVI at the Vatican on May
30.
In Morocco
they met child welfare groups, the interior minister and the police chief.
"We had little knowledge of Morocco before coming here and have
learned what a family-orientated and child loving society it is. Everyone has
been incredibly sympathetic and said they will do everything to help us find
Madeleine," Gerry McCann said.
He said earlier that due to a lack of evidence regarding Madeleine's
whereabouts it was possible she had been taken out of Portugal into Spain
or Morocco.
The girl vanished after her parents left her and her two-year-old twin siblings
in their hotel room while they went to a nearby restaurant in Praia da Luz. |
