Madeleine Suspect's Home Searched

The home of Robert Murat - the only named suspect in the Madeleine McCann inquiry - is being searched again.

Two British police officers are at the scene in Portugal - where undergrowth is being cleared and trees cut down - along with around eight from the local force.

It is thought the operation could last four days.

The development comes just after a woman in Belgium insisted she saw the missing four-year-old in a cafe with a couple who were acting strangely.

She said the child was with an English-speaking woman and a Dutch man in the Flemish town of Tongeren.

Police are carrying out forensic tests on a drinks bottle used by the girl.

Murat, a 33-year-old Brit who has been twice questioned by police and maintains his innocence, shares the house in Praia da Luz with his mum.

He is not currently at the house.

The residence is near the holiday apartment from which Madeleine vanished and had previously been searched by officers, with a number of items removed.

Murat - who has not been arrested - insists he was at home on May 3, the night Madeleine disappeared, and his mother backs his alibi.

He is considered an "arguido" - the Portuguese police term for a suspect.
