McCann fund cut by £400k The Sun (paper edition)

Saturday, December 18, 2010

INCOME for Kate and Gerry McCanns' fund to help find missing daughter Madeleine fell by £400,000 last year.

They raised £233,099 - after collecting £629,181 in 2008/09.

The couple used the donations to pay for private investigators and a phone hotline for clues from the public.

The McCanns, both 42, of Rothley, Leics, said lack of cash could leave them unable to continue searching for Madeleine.

She vanished aged three on holiday in Portugal in 2007.

Proceeds from a book deal the McCanns have signed will go to the fund.

Directors of the fund said in a financial report: "The costs of the search continue to be higher than the annual income."
