Note to the Media
Madeleine McCann Case
The Public Ministry has determined the
reopening of the inquiry into the
disappearance of the minor Madeleine
McCann, in compliance with article 279,
nr. 1, of the Penal Process Code,
following the Judiciary Police's
proposal and taking into account the
presentation of new indicative elements
that justify the continuation of the
investigation.
In this inquiry, which is held by the
Republic Prosecutor's Office of
Portimão, and because it is understood
that the regime of judicial secrecy is
necessary, the competent Judge of
Criminal Instruction was requested to
postpone access to the process for the
period of time that is objectively
indispensable to the conclusion of the
investigation.
