SIR RICHARD BRANSON
The Virgin entrepreneur - worth, according to the Sunday Times Rich List, an estimated £3.1bn - has apparently been following the McCanns' story with great interest from the beginning. He has been in regular contact with them and had already provided a £100,000 reward for information leading to Madeleine's return before he heard that the McCanns might have to sell their home to pay for their legal defence. (They feared a public backlash if they dipped into the Find Madeleine Fund, which has so far received more than £1m.) Determined that the McCanns should receive a fair hearing, he began a second fund by donating £100,000.

FIRST POST 26-19-07

JOHN GERAGHTY (68 ) Year 2007
John Geraghty A 68-year-old businessman from Leicestershire who now lives in a villa on the outskirts of Praia da Luz.
On the Sunday the McCann's left Praia da Luz to go home, Mr Geraghty was with other friends at Faro airport to see them off, the car the McCann's hired during their stay in Portugal was later seen in the double garage at Mr Geraghty's villa on an exclusive golf resort just three miles from Praia da Luz. Gerry and Kate had asked him if he could store the car.

SIR PHILIP GREEN (55) Year 2007
Sir Philip Green (who was born into a Jewish family in Croydon, in South London, and has a sister, Elizabeth, five years his senior) is a British billionaire businessman who owns some of the United Kingdom's largest retailers, including Bhs and the Arcadia Group. He is Britain's fourth richest man, with a total of 2300 shops in the UK and assets worth around £3.61bn. His assets currently control 12% of the UK clothing retail market, making his empire the second-largest in the sector. Among Green's more extravagant items are a 208ft/£32 million Benetti yacht Lionheart[5] and a £20 million Gulfstream G550 private jet his wife gave him as a Christmas present. It was this private jet which was loaned to the McCanns for their visit to Rome and an audience with Pope Benedict XVI on 30th May. It was waiting for the McCanns at Faro airport, Portugal, on 29th May 2007. Sir Philip Green has also offered £1m for the safe return of Madeleine McCann

JK ROWLING
Harry Potter author JK Rowling has offered a staggering amount to a $3 million dollar reward fund for Madeleine McCann, a missing British girl. The British tabloid 'News of the World' reported that while the Harry Potter author asked for the precise sum to be kept secret, the donation is larger than the highest announced pledge of $495,000. In addition, posters of missing Madeleine McCann were made available to book retailers around the world at the request of Harry Potter author JK Rowling. She arranged, with the help of her publishers, for a poster to be made available for book retailers worldwide.

STEPHEN WINYARD (57) Year 2007
A £1m reward has been put up by the Scottish tycoon Stephen Winyard, 57, who owns Stobo Castle in the Scottish Borders. Mr Winyard, a father-of-three who lives in Monaco, said he was moved to offer the reward by photographs of Madeleine's distraught parents. He told The Times: "When I saw their faces, I felt frustrated that no one else had yet come forward offering a substantial reward, and so felt compelled to do so myself."
